Feasibility Analysis of Mortar Development with Ornamental Rock Waste for Coating Application by Mechanized Projection

The industrial production of lime generates greenhouse gases, which contributes to increase the global warming. Therefore, present study evaluated feasibility replacing by ornamental rock waste (ORW) as a by-product related stone industry, and developed cost-effective mortars. These new low-costing mortars are intended fresh fluid paste coatings be applied on walls mechanized projection technique. was collected from marble granite industry ground stone. It finely crushed before mixing with cement, sand, water superplasticizer in amounts 1.0% (R01), 1.2% (R02) 1.3% (R03), prepare mortars, had mixture, cement: ORW: 1:1:4 wt.%. novel were characterized both fresh, for well projection, hardened state, evaluate properties after curing performance. results showed that mortar R03, achieved best did not cracks state. Its retention found above 30%. Both tensile strength 0.312 MPa compressive 7.88 MPa, corresponding minimum required standard external coating. Water absorption immersion 19.37% void content 20.23% close values hydrated mortar. Dry shrinkage R03 reached more than 90% their total retraction at 7 days cure without sign cracking. findings revealed R03/ornamental -based promising sustainable substitute common lime-based
